Why Seek God?What motivates a person to seek "God"? What inspires you to know God? What inspires humanity to create this idea or concept we call God? Do we all not already know God? Is there more to know or experience? That depends, of course. Is it perfect yet? Can you enjoy and love all that life offers? Do you still believe that good and evil are real? To know "God" is to know the pure reality without all the pollutants of your mind or body; the needs, desires, beliefs, meanings, purposes, etc. In purity you have clarity that enables you to see through assumptions that create fear. The fears create a need to struggle with imaginary enemies or problems that causes dis-ease in your psyche which eventually manifests as disease in your body. Once you have had a pure experience of God or truth these beliefs or illusions will never haunt you again: you are free. When you expand your awareness to infinity (God) instead of focusing or narrowing our awareness to something/anything then you (your body) will become aware of where it came from and where it will return to (your essence.) This awareness 'smoothes' out the bumps that life offers and makes it a more peaceful, loving experience. The deeper you go, the more pure your experience of God, the less fear you have at the core of your being. The experience is at a cellular level. The consciousness or awareness extends to each cell of your body. Over time your body can forget this experience. The cells start to believe and the fear returns. That is why we periodically go "home to God" in meditation. The essence of the method of going home, returning to God is to let go, to relax or to not make anything important. Relaxation is peace. Since we have habitually made things important our entire lives then it takes a lot of work to see our habitual thoughts. By smiling and being soft with yourself when you digress into making something important (and hence create tension and thoughts) you will start to relax. This releases the tension and decreases the thoughts and desires giving you more peace. I practice seeing my 'self' or body/mind being as a child and smiling at it's beliefs, desires, wants, etc. that motivate it to seek what it can only find in peace or stillness. I see it as a silly child. I sit in desirelessness above all creation and just witness the perfection and beauty of it all. This "Experience of God" releases you from the need to fight the illusions that plague humanity. You are then free to Perfectly enjoy and love ALL that life offers. With God your joy and love is lasting. Without God you joy and love is at best fleeting. Without the peace of the meaningless that God brings you there will always be struggle for meaning or purpose. Of course, the immature or unconscious person who believes that God is a person, a thing, an object with qualities of it's own, will never experience the reality, truth, or peace that unlimited God offers. This type of person is not conscious of his or her own motivations. They do not know the "source" of their desires. For the conscious person God is a verb, not a noun. God is the word we use to describe our yearning or desire for a peace that gives us the freedom to enjoy and love what life offers. Seeking the unknown call God is seeking the peace of eternity. |
